These instructions will help you honor pricing for online coupons and promotions from websites such as Groupon or Living Social. The best way to credit your client for their promotional purchase is to create a coupon that's easily applied to their ticket it's being redeemed.
β
βAdding a Coupon
Select Edit Coupons from the Messaging & Marketing (or E-mail & Marketing) pull-down menu.
Click Add Coupon in the upper left.
Fill in the details pertaining to the promotion. Note that a Coupon ID can only be used once. So, if you have promotions for the same promo website that run throughout the year, take that into consideration when adding your coupons. You can name the coupon whatever is most convenient for tracking purposes.
Select the Apply a discount to a single item that is redeemed on the ticket bubble.
Click Add Item and select the product or service that applies to the promotion.
Enter the discount percentage or currency amount to be discounted from the item by double-clicking in the Percent Disc or Currency Disc column.
When finished, click Save in the lower right.β
Redeeming an Item Total Discount Coupon
Perform these steps when a client provides proof of purchase for your promotion and is ready to check out.
Add a new ticket for the client.
Click the Coupon button in the lower left Redeem section of the ticket.
Select the promotional coupon to be added. The coupon and the item will be added with the appropriate discount filled in. Note that if you are adding the promotion to a ticket that was already created and scheduled, you will need to remove the original service line item before adding the promotional coupon.
Add any other items the client wishes to purchase to the ticket and check out/close as you normally would.
Tracking Coupon Usage
To find out how many times your promotions have been redeemed in store, simply revisit the coupon you added on the Coupons screen and click the View Usage History button. This will display the redemption history, which is a valuable piece of information if you would like to track the number of promotions purchased online vs. how many get redeemed.
